Because with that same Radeon , I can install Sabayon Linux, or the new Ubuntu 8, and I get the wobbly windows, the translucent effects, and a fully 3 dimensional desktop, with 4 desktops on a cube, which I can zoom out of, and choose a new clean desktop to open another program on, etc.. And 3D games work perfectly I tend to favor the former answer, but take your pick.
